Today I will be reviewing 1986's Stand By Me. This story centers around a bunch of children on a hot summer day. It stars Star Trek kid, Corey, and Wakeem Pheonix's brother- the not on time, River. There's also a fat one. The story is about the boys in search of a dead body adventure, and they find one. Something happens where they find out about a dead kid who is just laying there. So they go and try to find him. Only Keifer Sutherland and his gang of dancers can stop them.
So, Should I See It, or say, "I can't stand by and watch you watch this"?
I say See It. It sticks very closely to the source material - the 1960's Ben E. King's hit song. Even though I was disappointed to learn it all takes place in the 50's or 60's, I was still able to enjoy myself. But again, I wasn't paying much attention. Richard Dryfist does some of his best work with his less than 4 minutes of screen time. He was my favorite part and begs the question, why doesn't he get much work anymore. When they get to the dead body, it's a little scary, but if you can make it through that part there's a lesson to be learned. Lesson doesn't look like it spelled right, but I guess it is. Stand By Me? If you keep putting out quality work like this, of course I will.
